(September/October/November)
@ Woodredding Farm, Yatton, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire with the guidance of award-winning craft cider maker Brian Robbins. |
Bring your apples or pears. We’ll press them. You take the juice home. If you have your own fruit bring it along and we’ll press it. Alternatively you can collect some of our cider apples.
You can make cider out of dessert and cooking apples but the resulting cider can be bland or sharp. We recommend mixing them with cider apples to get a balanced and more interesting blend. You take the juice home in 25 litre containers and let it ferment and mature during the winter. Cost We charge 70p per litre to press your apples, or £1.20 per litre if you use our apples. On the day Bring your own apples or pears in bags for ease of scratting. Rubble bags from Screwfix or B&Q are ideal. Bring your own 25 litre containers. They are readily available on ebay and Amazon. We can supply them at £9 each but you need to order in advance. As a guide one bucketful of apples will produce about 3 litres of juice.
